A village messenger has lost the final message, and your children must recover it from Luke 2. Teams read the Christmas account in the King James Version and solve seven clues: put the travel record in order, decode the sign, read a night watch map, find the good news in a word grid, restore the angels’ praise, check the shepherds’ witness and trace the way back. Each clue gives one letter, and the seven letters spell the final message. A bonus clue then turns to the prophets and Matthew: Micah 5:2, Isaiah 9:6, Matthew 2:2 and Matthew 1:21 spell the name JESUS. The Host Guide gives staged hints for every clue (Hint 1 to Hint 3), every answer, and a page on the name of the Saviour with Acts 4:12 and Acts 2:38. It is a tabletop game: no locks or internet, only paper and pencils.

Questions before you print
What ages is it for?
Children who can read short verses with help, roughly ages 6 to 12. Younger children can play with an adult reader.
Do I need locks or a phone?
No. It is a tabletop paper game. Paper and pencils are enough; envelopes and the optional clue labels are extra.
How many players?
One child can play alone with a host, or teams can play together. Print Player Kit pages 2 to 13 for each team.
How long does it take?
About 30 to 45 minutes for seven clues, plus the bonus clue.
Which Bible version is used?
The King James Version. Every verse quoted is printed in full and checked word for word.
Does any page picture Jesus?
No. The cover shows a night view of Bethlehem with a star over a house; no page pictures Jesus.
Which paper size should I print?
Choose US Letter or A4 and use only that size. Print single-sided at 100% scale.
